South Stokes High School is proud to announce that its Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) program has been designated a 2025–2026 Naval Honor School, one of the highest recognitions a Marine Corps JROTC unit can receive.

The designation was announced in an official letter from Colonel R. J. Oltman, Director of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. The recognition honors MCJROTC units that have demonstrated exceptional performance, professionalism, leadership, and dedication throughout the school year.

South Stokes High School’s MCJROTC program ranked among the top 20% of Marine Corps Junior ROTC units in the nation and was one of only 3 schools in Region 8 selected to receive the prestigious designation.

Major Brent Hampton, Director of Region 8 of the Marine Corps JROTC, congratulated South Stokes along with fellow Naval Honor School recipients Goochland and Lejeune High Schools.

“I want to congratulate the Marine Corps JROTC units at Goochland, Lejeune, and South Stokes High Schools for making the cut,” Major Hampton said. “The efforts of administrators, instructors, and most importantly, your Cadets, have paid off.”

Colonel Oltman noted that Naval Honor School recognition reflects more than a single achievement, describing it as a reflection of sustained excellence and a commitment to developing confident, disciplined, and capable young leaders.

The honor is a testament to the hard work and dedication of South Stokes High School’s JROTC cadets, instructors, school administrators, and the entire Saura community. Through leadership, service, discipline, academic achievement, and a commitment to excellence, the program has established itself as one of the premier MCJROTC units in the nation.
