It is with great pride that we announce Mrs. Sawyer Ferguson, Agriculture Teacher at South Stokes High School, as the 2026–2027 Stokes County Schools Teacher of the Year! 👏

Since joining SCS in 2020 after graduating from NC A&T State University, Mrs. Ferguson has made an incredible impact—teaching Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Science, Equine Science, and Veterinary Medicine. She also serves as FFA Advisor and South Stokes Shooting Team Manager, and is a recipient of the Spotlight Award of Excellence.

Through her dedication and success in securing grants, she has expanded opportunities for her students in meaningful ways. Even more impressive is the impact she’s had on student achievement—helping 168 students earn Youth for the Quality Care of Animals certification and 85 students earn Beef Quality Assurance certification.

Mrs. Ferguson’s passion for hands-on, real-world learning inspires students to discover new career pathways while building confidence, character, and purpose. Her commitment to preparing students for life beyond graduation truly sets her apart.
