Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. This Monday October 5th we will be having our Senior Parent Night at South Stokes from 5:30-6:30. Families will find out about the college application process, financial aid, and scholarships. Tuesday October 6th is make up picture day for all students, including seniors. Wednesday October 7th is the Powder Puff Football game, kickoff is at 7pm. Friday October 9th is the end of the first quarter. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Hailey Settle. Hailey has been a tremendous help to others in the classroom. She has also been a big help to the teacher! Thank you Hailey, for your kindness and leadership. This week in Saura sports, on Monday there will be Fall sports pictures after school. On Tuesday golf is at Cross Creek Country Club, Tennis travels to Bishop McGuinness, and volleyball travels to Winston-Salem Prep. On Wednesday tennis travels to South Davidson for the conference tournament and cross country travels to Southwest Guilford. On Thursday, volleyball travels to North Stokes for Dig for the Cure Night and soccer travels to South Davidson. We are on our bye week, so there is no football game this Friday. Congratulations to the members of our 2026 Homecoming Court, and special Congratulations to our Miss Congeniality, Bailee Coffill, our Homecoming Princess, Ellie Parker, and our Homecoming Queen, Emma Coffill. This Wednesday the Beta Club will be having their induction ceremony for new members at 5:30pm. The South Stokes Band will be having Spirit Night at Little Italy in Rural Hall from 4pm-10pm. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. This week is Homecoming at South Stokes, a time when we celebrate our Saura Pride. Last week's Future Saura Night was a tremendous success, and set a great atmosphere for the excitement for this week. Our students will be having Spirit Week each day leading up to our big game on Friday. Monday is PJ Day, Tuesday is Twin Day, Wednesday is Dress as your Grade Day, Thursday is 2016 Vibes day, and Friday is Neon Night. On Friday we will be having our Homecoming Pep Rally and Mock Parade, and at the Homecoming game we will be crowning this year's Homecoming Queen, Homecoming Princess, and Miss Congeniality. Monday night our JROTC program will be recognized at the School Board meeting for being selected as a Naval Honor School, a prestigious recognition that includes the top Navy and Marine Corps JROTC programs in the country. On Tuesday a representative from Jostens will be meeting with Seniors about graduation materials after first period and sophomores about class rings. Friday night after the Homecoming game we will be having our Homecoming Dance from 9-11. The theme is Neon Night, cost is $10 and tickets can be purchased online or in the main office. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Miller Clark. Miller has helped with new drummers in band, and during Spanish class, helped celebrate a student's birthday. Tuesday, cross country is at Ivey Redmond, and volleyball hosts Bishop McGuinness. On Wednesday tennis travels to Bishop McGuinness and volleyball travels to Forbush. On Thursday, tennis travels to North Stokes, soccer travels to Mt. Airy and JV football is at Forbush. On Friday, football hosts College Prep and Leadership Academy in out Homecoming football game. At last Friday night's football game, JD helped an injured player from the other team off the field, in a display of true sportsmanship. Thank you JD, for your kindness and leadership. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your first Weekly Update for the 2026-2027 school year. We are excited to begin another incredible year at South Stokes High School. I send home these weekly updates to keep families informed, but we also share information on our school website and social media pages. Please like and follow our social media pages so that you will be informed on the latest information from South Stokes. This week we welcome our students and families back with Freshman Orientation and several Open House Sessions. This Thursday, August 6th we will be having Freshman Orientation at South Stokes at 4:30 PM. At 6:00 PM we will have Freshman Open House, beginning in the main gym. 10th - 12th grade Open House will be on Thursday, August 6th, during two floating sessions, one 10:00-12:00 and the other from 1:00-3:00. Families can choose to go to the Open House time that works best for your family's schedule. Parents can save time at Open House and Freshman orientation by completing the Chromebook form online. To do this, go to our homepage, click on menu and click on forms. You will then complete the 2026-2027 school forms. You can also pay the technology fee, as well as other fees online at https://stokescountyschools.schoolcashonline.com/. The first day of school is Thursday August 13th. This week in Saura sports, Fall tryouts began last week, and cross country will have try outs on Monday, August 10th, 4:30-6:00. Students should meet under the picnic shelter at the track .The required parent meeting for fall sports will be Tuesday, August 4th, at 7:30pm, at South Stokes. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. I hope everyone has a Happy Mother's Day. On Monday night, we will be inducting the first members into the South Stokes Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society at 6:30 in the main gym. On Tuesday, the Junior class will meet with representatives from Strawbridge Studios to discuss their senior portraits over the summer in July. On Tuesday evening we will be having the Spring Band Concert in the auditorium at South Stokes at 7:00 pm. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we will be having AP Testing for AP English Language and Composition, AP Spanish Language and Culture, and AP Environmental Science. On Thursday evening we will be having our annual Powder Puff game at 6:00 pm. Looking ahead, we will be having our Academic Awards Day at South Stokes on Thursday, May 21st at 9:00 am in the main gym. The families of students receiving honors and awards will be notified this week so that you can plan to join us that morning. Our Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2026 will be on Friday, May 29th at 7:30 at our football stadium. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Jordan Flinchum. Jordan has been putting in incredible work in the community at Good Old Days Car Wash—building strong employment skills, fostering positive social connections, and growing in economic literacy. We’re proud of the way Jordan represents the Saura Tribe! Thank you Jordan, for your kindness and leadership. This week in Saura Sports, the golf team is heading to the 2A state championship at Gates Four Golf and Country Club in Fayetteville. This week the state tournament begins for soccer as we host Albemarle at South Stokes on Monday. On Tuesday, the softball team travels to Starmount for the third round of the state tournament and baseball hosts the Community School of Davidson in the 3rd round of the state tournament. We will keep you updated with next round locations and times as our Saura athletes progress through the different play off rounds this week.
